Last Friday, students at Philipsburg Schools participated in their very first Outdoor Classroom Friday! Students had the opportunity to choose between attending the Butterfly & Bug Exhibit in Missoula or spending the day skiing at Discovery. Students who attended the Butterfly & Bug Exhibit experienced hands-on learning as they explored the world of insects. They learned all about beetles—did you know that a ladybug is actually a type of beetle, or that there are over 5,000 different kinds of ladybugs? I definitely didn’t! After that, students explored the butterfly exhibit and even had the chance to hold and touch millipedes, which can have over 500 legs. 🐞🦋 Students who chose to go skiing spent the morning participating in ski lessons led by the awesome instructors at Discovery. In the afternoon, students enjoyed warm chocolate chip cookies and free-skied with friends. Students who went skiing spent the day on the slopes practicing physical education while having a blast in the outdoors. 🎿❄️ Such a fun and memorable day of learning beyond the classroom!
